Dr. Sun-Hoffman served as President of Chinese Biopharmaceutical Association (CBA) from 2008-2009. She successfully leads the organization to hold its annual conference in Shanghai, in May 2008, which is the first one outside US, and the biggest one in CBA history. Under her leadership, CBA also received highest sponsorship in its history including BIO’s sponsorship and became the first Chinese based organization to partner with BIO’s Annual Convention this year. Dr. Sun-Hoffman will be the lead representative of Asian Affairs for Biotechnology Industry Organization, the largest biotechnology and pharmaceutical organization in the world.
Dr. Sun-Hoffman is also actively in the area of green technology. In March 2009, she is appointed as Vice President of Public Relation at US-China Green Energy Council founded in Bay Area in 2008.
Dr. Sun-Hoffman is in the patent field for more than 10 years and was a USPTO patent examiner. She more than 10 year of biotech research experience includes working at NIH. In addition, she also draft and negotiate various licenses for biotech companies. She gave talks in IP and licensing matter to audiences including US government, WTO IP Council members, State Intellectual Property Office in China.
Dr. Sun –Hoffman serves as a Sr. Patent Attorney at Life Technologies Corporation formerly Applied Biosystems, one of the biggest biotech company in US. Previously, she was a managing patent attorney at Celera Genomics, the first company sequenced human genome. She obtained company’s first patent.
Dr. Sun-Hoffman is admitted to the Maryland Bar and registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
