President Wan Gang of China Association for Science and Technology met with Steven Chu and a delegation from the UCGEC

On October 28, 2019, Dr. Steven Chu, the Nobel Laureate in physics and former US energy secretary, led a delegation from UCGEC to visit the China Association of science and technology. Wan Gang, vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and chairman of the China Association for science and technology, met with the visiting delegation at the China Science and technology hall.


 

President Wan Gang welcomed Dr. Chu's visit. They exchanged views on promoting the scientific, technological, and cultural exchanges and clean energy cooperation under the current situation. Both sides agreed that China and the United States should keep the channels of scientific and technological exchanges open, continue to promote exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and American scientists, scientific and technological institutions and enterprises, explore and solve the practical problems faced by China and the United States in scientific and technological exchanges and energy cooperation, and jointly promote the sustainable development of globalization.


 

Under the leadership of President Wan Gang, the delegation visited the History Museum of the association of science and technology of China with great interest.

President Wan Gang also affirmed the "2019 International Clean Energy Conference" jointly sponsored by the UCGEC, China Electrical Engineering Society and China Association for clean energy society under the guidance of China Association for science and technology, and hoped that all parties could continue their efforts to jointly promote the development of global clean energy.


 

After the meeting, the two sides exchanged gifts. Dr. Steven Chu presented to President Wan Gang a special commemorative plate made by the US China Green Energy Promotion Association for China Association for science and technology. President Wan Gang also gave back exquisite souvenirs with the emblem of the China Association for science and technology.

The participants who also attended the meeting include Shu Wei, member of the Party group and Secretary of the Secretariat of the China Association for science and technology; Shu Yinbiao, President of the China Society of electrical engineering; Wang Qi, executive chairman of the UCGEC; Daniel Kammen, distinguished professor of the University of California, Berkeley, United States; Luo Hui, director of the international technology exchange center of the China Association for science and technology; He Wei, deputy director of the talent and training center of the China Association for science and technology; Kang Zhexiu, Deputy Secretary General of the Advisory Committee of UCGEC; and Wang Yunhu, vice president of the UCGEC.
